My Previous Problem with Punctuality

So a few years ago, I used to have this problem with getting to places on time. I would always set up my departures so that I would arrive at the destination exactly on time. But this left me with very little wiggle room for inconveniences in mid-travel. Most of the time, this would work out; but sometimes it wouldn't. Even when I was late, it was never by more than a few minutes. But then I went to college.

Those of you who've ever commuted to a public area know of the eternal agony of finding a parking space. I was no different. Suddenly, just on time wasn't good enough anymore. I began to slip through my grace periods and arrive later than acceptable. It came to a head for one of my classes. Where I was so late that the teacher outright refused to let me participate and sent me home for the day. That was the first time something like that had ever happened to me; and lord willing, it will be the last.

Anyway, the next week, I decided that I HAD to be on time. I left the house an entire hour before I normally did and made my way to campus, arriving with a whole hour to spare. Alas, forty-five minutes of that hour was spent finding a parking space. When I FINALLY managed to find one, it was at the very end of the parking lot. So with the click ticking down, I made a mad dash for the classroom. The dash was so mad, in fact, that I blew out both legs for the next week. They were so sore that I couldn't accelerate higher than "brisk walk." I kept going, pushing myself until my lungs burned. I didn't even bother to take the elevator when I finally got inside the building and dashed up three flights of stairs instead. But despite all that, I succeeded, arriving at the classroom with eight minutes to spare! With a triumphant grin on my face, I pushed open the door to discover...

...an empty room.

Yeah, turned out that the class had been canceled for the day. And I'd been so busy trying to get there that I missed the notification on my phone. At that point, all I could do was stand in the middle of the barren classroom and laugh at the sheer absurdity of it all.

After that, I started giving myself more time for incidents, and I arrive on time a lot more often now. You're going to see me say this a lot, but sometimes my life feels like a giant sitcom. Hope you all enjoy the rest of the show.

Been there, done that...what a hoot. Glad you could laugh it off.
