I Know Where I'm Going (Last Post!)

In my most popular post on this blog, I talked about how I sifted through my past, noticed a pattern in my life, and determined my purpose in life based on it. I still hold true to that even now. The pattern has repeated itself once again, bringing another realization with it.

I will use my writing, my voice, and everything that I am to show the world that life IS worth living. It has beauty, virtue, and wisdom for all to enjoy. You just have to go out and take it.

Now, I've figured out what I'm going to do to achieve that, as well as what the biggest obstacle in my path is. It's not laziness, anger, anxiety, or other people. It's complacency.

Complacency can be defined as being so satisfied with one's situation that one stops trying to improve, often ignoring potential problems or dangers. People start resting on their past successes and stop trying to gain new ones.

I've experienced the second-hand effect of this. I've worked several entry-level jobs in my life and was often bewildered when my bosses would constantly give me praise and adoration just for doing what I was SUPPOSED to do: show up on time, follow their instructions, not complain all the time. It was utterly bizarre. That's the bare minimum of any occupation, not praiseworthy in the slightest.

I've read other stories about this, too: Students being passed through schools and even graduating with honors even though they can't read, Netflix instructing its screenwriters to have the characters announce what they're doing so viewers can use the movies as background noise, and youtube channels that forgo any kind of quality check in favor of just churning out content like slops to pigs.

So here's my plan.

I'm going to be transitioning from this blog to a Substack account, where I will channel my real life into the fiction I craft and the fiction I craft into my real life. These will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Personal Revelations: I draw from my own life and what I've learned to share my experiences with the world and help showcase life's hidden values.

  2. Creative World Spotlight: We'll dive into one of the many fictional worlds I've created, exploring the setting and characters.

  3. Recursive Reality: I explore how the experiences of my characters in the aforementioned fictional worlds translate back into the real world.

  4. Community/Reflection Week: Fan theories, polls, challenges, and questions for the audience.

I've loved writing this blog over the years. I can even say that my experiences here have prepared me for this important next step. But God gives us a place to enjoy and grow for a season; now, it's time for me to move on to new horizons. Those of you who have subscribed to the blog should expect an email as soon as the Substack is ready.

Goodbye, Everyone. I'll see you in the morning.

Signed, Mr. E In The Morning.
